The Ministry's visitor's entrance is on a grotty-looking street in the heart of London. Visitors enter
a vandalized Muggle telephone box and dial 6-2-4-4-2. After the visitors state their names and business to he female
Ministry operator who greets them, they are issued square silver identity badges which shoot out of the phone's coin-return
chute. The telephone box then sinks underground like an elevator and a golden beam of light announces its arrival in
the Ministry's Atrium about a minute later.
The Atrium is long and wide, with a gleaming dark wood floor and a blue ceiling full of shimmering golden
symbols. The dark wood walls contain numerous gilded fireplaces - employees Floo in from one side and out from the other.
At the far end of the Atrium, there are golden gates leading to a smaller hall with about twenty lifts behind grilles.
FOUNTAIN OF MAGICAL BRETHREN
A small circular pool in the middle of the Atrium contains five large gilded statues posed idyllically - a
foolish-looking wizard and vapid-looking witch, with a centaur, goblin, and house-elf gazing up at them adoringly. Dumbledore
thinks the statues tell a lie, and that wizards have mistreated their fellow creatures for far too long (shades of S.P.E.W.!).
Jets of water stream out of the wizard and witch's wands, as well as the centaur's arrow, the goblin's hat,
and the house-elf's ears. All coins thrown in the fountain are donated to St. Mungo's.
