The largest department in the Ministry, it includes Auror Headquarters, the Improper Use of Magic Office,
and Wizengamot Administration Service. The Department of Magical Law Enforcement also keeps tabs on the residences and
locations of witches and wizards throughout Britain.

Barty Crouch oversaw this council which deals with wizarding trials and hearings.
AUROR HEADQUARTERS
Double oak doors lead to a messy, chatter-filled area divided into cubicles. Aurors are dark wizard
catchers. In Voldemort's time, Crouch gave them the power to kill instead of capture. It takes three years of
training to become an Auror. Areas of study include Concealment and Disguise, and Stealth and Tracking.

IMPROPER USE OF MAGIC OFFICE
Monitors the use of magic in inappropriate circumstances, such as by underage wizards, or in the Muggle
world. The Improper Use of Magic Office is also responsible registering Animagi.

MISUSE OF MUGGLE ARTIFACTS OFFICE
Located at the end of a dim corridor across from a broom cupboard. It has no windows and is very cramped,
with lots of overflowing filing cabinets. There are a few Muggle posters on the walls and bewitched items on the two
desks. The Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office handles the fallout when wizards bewitch Muggle-made items that accidentally
end up back in the Muggle world. The office also deals with anti-Muggle wizarding pranksters and occasionally conducts
raids of wizarding homes in search of Dark Arts objects.

WIZENGAMOT
Wizard High Court. About fifty members attend hearings. They wear plum-colored robes with a
silver "W" on the left breast. During hearings, the Wizengamot act as jury whilst three Ministry officials serve as
Interrogators. There is also a Court Scribe.
